Description
With such great confusion as to what is needed to embrace God’s saving mercy, these cards can give invaluable guidance as to the need to love God by working to “sin no more.”
Front:
The SAVED are only those who sincerely want to “SIN NO MORE
“Among the penitent’s acts [the person confessing their sins] contrition occupies first place [since it is needed for salvation]. Contrition is sorrow of the soul and detestation for the sin committed, together with the resolution not to sin again.” (CCC#1451)
Back:
Are you striving to become a saint—someone who doesn’t want to sin? If not, why not? Are there some sins you don’t want to amend, some attachments to the world you don’t want to let go? We are “called to be saints” (1 Cor 1:2)…to love God above all. That is obedience to God. We are not saved by our prayers or works. We are saved by true faith in Jesus through the forgiveness of our sins. We can’t tell God we are sorry for sinning, and expect forgiveness, if we aren’t trying to stop sinning. That is false sorrow. Those who truly love God, don’t want to offend God at all and work towards that goal. If we are not desiring to remove every sin, we love our sins over God and commit idolatry and horribly choose Hell for all eternity. We must honestly seek to love/obey God by imitating Christ to be welcomed into Heaven. “How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life [Heaven]. And those who find it are FEW” (Mat 7:13-14).
